Beauty Tips: Olive Skin

Hi Guys, Oooh I missed you all so much. I was very busy during the holidays but now my work load is a little lighter. One of my new year's resolutions is to dedicate more time to work on my blog, so I'm here today to do that ^_^.

We'll be starting 2012 posts with a guest-post by the wonderful Aleya. In addition to having her own blog -spontaneous chick- she also writes the blogs for LI Beauty school (a beauty school collage) and for Hair Design Institute (a hair and makeup school).

You'll find this post to be very helpful and inspiring and so if you're interested please keep on reading.
Also if you have any questions or comments just leave those below, I know she'll be more than happy to get back to you. I'll be seeing you all soon, xx

If you have olive skin the makeup counter can be your playground. You’ll find that you can wear a broad range of colors and work with all sorts of techniques to create looks ranging from flirty to sophisticated to dazzling. But never boring. Here are a few beauty tips for women with olive skin who want to brush up on their color IQ.

Foundations and Concealer
If you do need a little help with making your skin look perfect, look for a foundation that blends seamlessly with your skin. When trying on different foundations at the store try colors that are two to three shades darker than your skin tone so that once you blend it into your skin it appears to be natural. The concealer on the other hand, should be two shades lighter than your skin so that it covers the darker areas and blends in with your natural skin color. The trick is to look like you’re not wearing any makeup at all.

Eye Shadows
Girls with olive skin and brown eyes are the luckiest girls of all because all eye shadow colors will look good on you, Pink, brown, green, lilac, silver- yep you can wear them all. All you have to do is spend some time at the makeup counter trying on different colors to see which ones you really like and which ones you don’t.
If you have olive skin and green eyes you’re slightly more limited in your selection but can still create some very vivid looks. Use pinks and browns to create everyday looks and dark greens and purples for evening looks. Stay away from red and blue though because they will make your eyes appear to be tired and possibly even inverted.

Blush and Bronzer
Girls with olive skin can bring out their cheekbones by using brown, pink and apricot blush. However if you want to channel your inner J Lo and get a sun kissed look try using bronzer instead. This will make your skin look healthy and bring out the best of your features while hiding your not so perfect ones.

Lipstick and Gloss
Make your lips look fuller by applying natural shades of shimmery gloss. To stop traffic try a red lipstick in a wine, true red or sheer shade.
